About Me

My name is Elizabeth Burritt and I recently moved to Kingsport, Tennessee from Florida, where I taught private piano lessons in my own studio. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Florida State University. I have been a member of the Music Teachers National Association for nearly 30 years, and am also a member of the Appalachian Music Teachers Association. I am an FJH music teacher, and am listed on the Steinway website under “Teachers in Tennessee.”

I am experienced in teaching piano to very young children, but I do evaluate them first to make sure that the child is mature enough and interested in learning to play the piano. I am most interested in the quality of the experience for the child, not the quantity of practice time. For little ones, lessons would most likely be 20 minutes long, as opposed to 30 minutes for older children. Lessons would be once a week. Since each child is unique, I try very hard to find activities and music that will engage and encourage that child. I don’t always do everything the same way, and I don’t expect the same results with every child. My goal is to provide music instruction that will lead to a lifetime of enjoyment.
